The family writes --
Arline Gottlieb died peacefully at her residence in Edison, New Jersey, on August 1, 2018, aged 87.
A native of Newark, she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1951 from that city’s Rutgers campus with a degree in sociology.
Arline was ahead of the rest of her generation in adroitly mixing homemaking with a career. After her children were settled in grade school in their hometown of Colonia, she embarked on a series of positions in journalism and corporate communications. She finished her career in 1993 as editor of internal publications for the Crum and Forster insurance company of Madison.
Arline was a devoted wife and mother; her Thanksgiving dinners were especially memorable. In retirement, she was an avid reader and continued to write for pleasure, for friends, and family. She enjoyed trips to flea markets and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Arnold J. Gottlieb formerly of Irvington; her three children, Elise Israel, Paul Gottlieb, and Jan Gottlieb; and six grandchildren.
