Max Berlin, 98, of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, formerly of Livingston, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday July 14, 2018.
Max was born in Newark, son of the late Herman and Rose Berlin. On January 5th, 1947, he married Estelle Weiner.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Barbara Kunz, and a sister, Jane (Berlin) Rittman. Surviving are his wife, Estelle Berlin, and his children, Susan Berlin and Stanley Slaw, and Bruce Berlin and his wife Andrea Treese Berlin. Also surviving are his grandchildren Jennifer Gold and her husband Adam Gold, Michael Liatsis, Ryan Liatsis, David Slaw, and Benjamin Slaw, as well as his great grand children, Ethan and Justin Gold.
He was a graduate of Rutgers University and a certified public accountant. He had his own practice, and worked to the age of 89. As a long term congregant, he served as Treasurer at the Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston, New Jersey. He also served as Grand Chancellor of the Knights of Pythias. Additionally, he was a World War II veteran.
