Lenore Loewenthal was raised in Newark, NJ and was one of four cherished daughters of Bertha and Carl Kestenbaum of which Ada Pralgever (and her late husband, Joseph) and Mildred Klein (and her late husband, Dr. Sanford) predeceased her and Claire Riegel (and her husband, Herbert) of Tinton Falls, NJ is the sole surviving sister.
Lenore went to Weequahic High School in Newark, NJ and graduated six months early with honors in January 1945. She was a classical pianist, who studied at The Juilliard School of Music, and once performed at Carnegie Hall.
Her beloved husband, Sydney Ira, of 42 years predeceased her in 1990. Maplewood, NJ was their home for 22 years with their four children and then Cherry Hill, NJ for 6 years before moving to Medfield, MA in 1981, where they both lived until their deaths.
Lenore was an exceptionally giving woman and an incalculable source of strength for her family. She was a devoted mother and will be missed always by her four children – Marc and his wife, Nancy, of Moraga, CA; Terri and her husband, Michael Fisher, of Needham, MA; and Sharon and Helen of Medfield, MA. In addition, she leaves behind two grandchildren – Carrie Loewenthal Massey of New York, NY and her husband, Scott Massey, and Emily Loewenthal Goodwin of Parker, CO and her husband, Steven Goodwin, as well as two great grandchildren – Joshua Massey and Ethan Goodwin.
